Keith Haring: The Childlike Genius of America's Favorite Artist

Keith Haring was an American artist whose pop & graffiti-like work grew out of the New York City street culture of the 1980s. His art is instantly recognizable for its simple childlike aesthetic and line-drawing style often made with very few colors. That universal quality that draws us to his work lead some to think that his art is easy to achieve but it isn’t. Haring believed, and his work shows us that that art should be something that liberates the soul, provokes the imagination and encourages people to go further.

 


The World of Jean-Michel Basquiat

A look at the life, work, controversies, and iconic mystique of Jean-Michel Basquiat, an artist who conquered the art world, defined a generation of 1980's expressionist painting, and became a celebrity doing it. Basquiat was an artist with preternatural talent who created art inspired by Jazz, Beat poets, Cy Twombly, Leonardo da Vinci, graffiti, hip-hop, and nearly everything else under the sun. He took on racism, politics, and art history itself in his short but exceptional career.
