New York Times Digital Edition: Home

The New York Times is available for Lansing Community College students and employees. Find out how to get access!

Get access

  1. Go to the NYT Access website: accessnyt.com
  2. At "Find School" type in or select Lansing Community College
  3. The New York Times Activate your complimentary access to NYTimes.com . Example of log in screen

  4.  Follow the directions to set up on-campus access on the screen. For off-campus access click the "Go" button. 
  5. Enter your LCC username and password at the EZproxy page. 
  6. At the NYT Welcome screen proceed to "create account."
    • Use your LCC email address to create your account.For security, create a password other than your LCC password. 
    • Select "Continue."
  7. You'll be asked to submit a few more details
  8. When you've completed set up you'll be sent a confirmation email and will be able to access your account.

FAQ's

What's included in LCC's subscription?

  • New York Times articles, interactive graphics, videos, and podcasts. 
  • Page image print edition content via the New York Times Time Machine from 1851-2002.
  • New York Times Education site is included but requires a separate account. For information see NYT In Education.
  • NYT Cooking, NYT Crosswords, and games are not included. 

How long do I have access?

  • Students will have access until they graduate.
  • Faculty and staff must renew once every four years; add your pass expiration date to your calendar; there will be no subsequent reminder.

How do I reset my password?

You may reset your NYT password any time here: nytimes.com/forgot

How do I log on to the NYT after I create my password?

The NYT pass page is needed ONLY to sign up for or renew access. After you set up your account, access the New York Times Digital edition at nytimes.com or download the mobile app from the App Store or Google Play.

What if I already have a personal subscription to the NYT?

First, contact NYT Customer Care to cancel your paid subscription. Next, register for LCC's digital access by going to Access NYT for LCC. Instead of creating a new account, click on "Already have an account? Log in here." Then enter your existing personal username and password. Your existing account will be automatically associated with the LCC subscription.

Here are a few suggestions to try if you encounter an error message while trying to create or renew your account:

  • Clear your browser's cache. 

  • Try a different browser.

  • Open the link in an incognito / private window.

  • If you get a blank screen after clicking “Create Account” please make sure you clicked on the correct link for "On Campus" vs "Off Campus."
