Primary and secondary sources are essential for conducting successful legal research. This guide provides starting points for locating  information and resources about legal topics and the law.

Types of Sources

Primary sources of law consist of state and federal statues, case law, administrative law, and constitutions.

Secondary sources of law such as legal encyclopedia describe or analyze the law. Dictionaries and digests are finding tools.
