Artificial Intelligence: Students

How to use our human intelligence to leverage artificial intelligence for learning, creating, and problem solving. This is one of the key skills all of us need to develop.

How to Leverage A.I. as a College Student

  1. First, develop domain expertise. "Domain" means what you are developing expertise in and building a career around, this is often your major.
  2. Then learn how to use A.I. in your field. If you are studying biology, keep up with how A.I. tools are changing medical sciences. If you are going to be a teacher, learn to use tools to help you teach more effectively. If you are going into marketing, learn to use all the tools that are creating ads.
  3. Use the most advanced models. Currently that includes ChatGPT 4, Gemini and Microsoft Co-pilot.

Notebook LM

Notebook LM is a free tool that makes it easy to manage, organize, and synthesize research materials. You can create 100 notebooks. In each notebook you can have 50 sources per notebook. Each source can have 50,000 words. A source can be a pdf, article, Google doc, or Google slide presentation. You can also paste a link from a YouTube video and it will automatically upload the transcript. A source can also be a website or copied text.

Then you can start a chat, just like with ChatGPT, but the answers will come just from the sources you've uploaded. You can also create a study guide from your sources, a podcast with the click of a button, and an FAQ page. Save your chat notes because, unlike ChatGpt, they disappear after you refresh the page.
