Need Research Help? Ask a Librarian

If you are working on a final essay, project, paper, etc., the LCC Librarians are here to help you with your research and citation needs. We have both in-person and virtual help options to serve your schedule! You can visit us in-person at the second floor TLC Research Help Desk for drop in assistance during our open desk hours, and at West Campus on Wednesday afternoons from 4pm-6pm at the long table under the stairway. If you cannot come to the library, you can schedule a Web-ex or phone appointment with us, or use our 24/7 chat service, that is staffed by LCC librarians and partner librarians throughout Michigan, across the country, and some in England. You can also call the Research Help Desk during our open desk hours at 517-483-1615. Our Library Help page includes links to our MLA and APA citation pages, Research Tutorials, and Research Guides. Library Display: Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The LCC Library has partnered with the Office of Student Compliance to raise awareness of sexual assault and provide resources for prevention and support. A collection of LCC Library books related to these subjects will be displayed on the 2nd floor of the Technology and Learning Center throughout the month of April. Books include memoirs, essays, research, and poetry. A variety of free promotional and informational items provided by the Office of Student Compliance are available at the display. Books are available for checkout at the Library Help Zone for anybody with an active LCC username and photo ID, including students, staff, and faculty. A virtual display of books and related e-books is also available on the LCC Library Virtual Displays guide. Library Display: A World of Poetry

April is Poetry Month! Poetry is an ancient and universal form of art. All human cultures have their own traditional forms of poetry and poets who honor and challenge those traditions. In celebration of poets around the world, the LCC Library has curated a display of featuring traditional and modern poetry collections. If you are interested in experiencing different kinds of literature, stop by the 2nd floor of the Technology and Learning Center to browse the display. Books are available for checkout at the Library Help Zone for anybody with an active LCC username and photo ID, including students, staff, and faculty. A virtual display of books and related e-books is also available on the LCC Library Virtual Displays guide. Happy National Library Workers Day

April 8, 2025 is National Library Workers Day. It is a day for where libraries and communities across the United State celebrate the important work of library employees. The observance began in 2003 by the American Library Association to “recognize the hard work, dedication, and expertise of library support staff and librarians.” Library employees are well-known and respected for providing access to books, promoting literacy and preserving written materials. These tasks alone take specialized skills and years to master. Library employees, however, do so much more. In an age where the world has more information than ever, library employees teach community members to navigate, understand and evaluate information. Furthermore, Library employees provide a welcoming place for all members of the community. Our team at LCC library does all of these things, and as the director I am proud of all of their work, their innovative ideas and projects, and their professionalism.
